Good morning and Happy Monday! Are we “all in our places with bright shining faces” this fine spring morn? (I know that some of our readers are both late into the night as well as experiencing autumn at this point. But I digress.)
I had intended to share with you the parade I saw on Saturday, complete with cool pictures. Who doesn’t love a parade, especially one set to a pounding disco beat? Well, bonehead (that would be me) only thought she was charging her phone the night before and the battery died before I could get a single photo.
Here are some taken by professionals:
I did get a nifty souvenir though. My first thoughts when someone handed it to me were, “what am I supposed to do with this? What does anyone do with this and do I want to know about it?”
Then I saw someone thwack it against their arm and light dawned on marble head (Marblehead, get it? It’s a town in Massachusetts. Maybe it’s a local thing.)
In any case, I didn’t stay long. Because one: crowds and two: it was HOT. It’s still hot. In fact, we’re officially experiencing the first heat wave of the year.
Which brings me to today’s playlist. I am by no means complaining about the heat (we’ll talk again in August) after the preponderance of dismal, dreary and downright frigid spring days we’ve had. Spring just doesn’t seem to want to release its grasp on winter. So let’s celebrate the hazy, hot and humid while it lasts.
Here are my top ten favorite HOT songs:
- Hot Stuff – Donna Summer
- Some Like it Hot – The Power Station
- Hot Fun In the Summertime – Sly & The Family Stone
- Heatwave – Martha and the Vandellas
- Too Hot – Kool & The Gang
- Hot Blooded – Foreigner
- The Heat Is On – Glenn Frey
- Hot Child In the City – Nick Gilder
- In the Heat of the Night – Ray Charles
- Heat of the Moment – Asia
Hope something on this list sets your toes to tapping and gets your week off to a blazing start. If there’s a good one that I’ve missed, by all means please share!
