Today marks the day, 19 years ago, when I – a late bloomer – walked myself down the aisle to marry my first and last husband, the man who changed my life.
It was Easter weekend that year also … and it was the night that the time changed over to Daylight Savings Time, which made heading out to the airport at 6 a.m. for our honeymoon flight particularly miserable, but I’ll spare you that saga – suffice it to say, the Bloody Mary(s) on the plane – and in the Admiral’s Club, together with the fruity rum drink on the boat ferrying us to our Caribbean destination were helpful in the extreme.
Anyway, no matter how many years pass, I can still recall the excitement, the sheer delight and the deep abiding love we felt on that day as though it were happening now, this minute. The romance never ends and that abiding love just grows deeper.
Thank you, my darling husband – my love – for finding me, loving me and giving me the best 19 years of my life.
I hope all of you have a beautiful Spring day full of love, surprises and incredible memories.
