Today, I drifted out onto the patio after breakfast with a mug of coffee and a blanket because it was, as my Canadian friends would say, “fresh”. It was such a glorious introduction to Fall, that I had to post a little Facebook status about sitting there, watching the deer graze past me and listening to the brisk breeze through the trees. I could count seven of the Blue Ridges because the air was so crystal clear. Here and there, throughout the forest, I could spot a few glimpses of early Fall color.

A dear friend replied to my comments with, “What a perfect way to ‘spend your wild and precious life’.”

I LOVE that phrase and had never heard it before. Google serendipitously led me to the Mary Oliver quote from “The Summer Day” —

Tell me, what is it you plan to do

With your one wild and precious life?

and this blog. I fell into Sarah York’s prose like it was another leaf from my own journal. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
